If you're a musician living in Manchester, Concord, Bedford, Goffstown, Derry, or Salem, you already know the deal. Southern New Hampshire has plenty of talent and not nearly enough rooms that treat performers like the main attraction. The Spot, our kava bar and live music venue in downtown Nashua, is one of the rare places that actually does. And we're booking acts from across the region every week.
Here's the honest pitch for performers based outside Nashua, what we offer, what the drive looks like from your city, and how to lock in a date.
1. The Performer Scene Gap in Southern NH
Talk to any working musician in southern New Hampshire and you'll hear the same complaint. Most "live music" gigs in the region are background gigs. You're playing while three TVs blast hockey, a bachelorette party shouts over your set, and the bartender turns the PA down twice. The crowd isn't there for you, they're there for cheap beer.
Manchester has a handful of solid rooms, Concord has even fewer, and most surrounding towns like Bedford, Goffstown, and Derry have almost no dedicated listening venues at all. If you write original music, run a tight acoustic set, or DJ a curated room, the regional options are thin. That's the gap The Spot was built to fill.
2. What The Spot Offers Performers
The Spot is an alcohol-free kava bar and live music venue at 217 Main Street in downtown Nashua. We seat 40 to 50 guests and we host live performers most nights of the week. Here's what you actually get when you play here.
An audience that listens. Because we don't serve alcohol, the room doesn't deteriorate at hour two. Nobody is three drinks deep talking over your bridge. People are there because they want music, kava, and conversation, in that order.
A full PA system. Mains, monitors, a mixing board, wired and wireless mics. Channels for full bands. You bring your instruments, we handle the sound.
Stage lighting. Basic but adjustable. Enough to set a mood without melting your face.
A room sized for connection. 40 to 50 seats. Close to the performer, all eyes forward. You can hear the audience breathing during a quiet song, which is the entire point.
Promotion across our channels. Instagram, Facebook, email newsletter, in-venue signage. We tag you, we cross-promote, you get new fans in a new city.
Merch sales, 100 percent yours. We set up a table for you near the performance area. Take home everything you sell.

3. Travel From Manchester, Concord & Bedford, Worth the Drive?
Short answer, yes. Here's the realistic drive time to 217 Main Street, Nashua, from each city in the region:
• Manchester, about 20 minutes via Route 3 South. Easier than crosstown Manchester traffic on a Friday.
• Bedford, about 25 minutes. Straight shot down Route 3.
• Salem, about 25 minutes via Route 28 and Route 111.
• Derry, about 30 minutes via Route 28 and Route 111.
• Goffstown, about 30 minutes via Route 114 and Route 3.
• Concord, about 40 minutes via I-93 South and Route 3.
Parking is straightforward downtown, load-in is right off Main Street, and you're back on the highway five minutes after load-out. For most acts in the region, this is closer than the Boston rooms you're already considering, with a fraction of the headache.

5. Open Mic, Full-Band, Acoustic, What Works at The Spot
We program a range of formats. Here's what fits well at the room.
Acoustic singer-songwriters. Probably our sweet spot. The room is built for vocals, lyrics, and dynamics. If you can carry a 90-minute set with a guitar and a voice, you'll thrive here.
Full bands up to 5 or 6 members. Rock, indie, jazz, blues, folk, soul. The PA and the stage area handle it. Keep stage volume reasonable and the room rewards you.
Duos and trios. Acoustic duos, jazz trios, harmony acts. The intimate setup is built for them.
Hip-hop, electronic, DJ sets. Welcome. The PA can handle backing tracks, MPCs, controllers. Bring your laptop and your show.
Open mic and showcase nights. If you're a Manchester or Concord performer looking to test new material in front of a real audience, hit us about open mic slots when you submit. They're a great low-pressure entry point.
Spoken word and comedy. The listening-room vibe is gold for storytellers.

Can I sell merch? Yes. We set up a table near the stage. You keep 100 percent of sales.
Is there a green room? No formal green room, but we have a quiet space for you to land, set down gear, and settle in before the set.
